Thursday August 28 | 19:30 Transport leaves from outside the Cape Town International Convention Centre at 19:30 and returns to the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 22:00. Access to the Congress Banquet is through Gate 10 of the Green Point Park and Biodiversity Garden off Helen Suzman Boulevard. Accompanying PersonsAn accompanying persons programme showcasing the vibrant city of Cape Town is available for the enjoyment of those travelling with IFAC 2014 delegates. Registered accompanying persons can enjoy the comforts of the Accompanying Persons Lounge on Level 1 of the CTIC. They are invited to attend the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception, the Congress Banquet and the Closing Ceremony and Farewell Reception. The package also includes a ticket for the City Sightseeing tour bus, the world’s number one open-top bus operator that can be found in more than 70 cities around the world, and right here in Cape Town. The familiar red open-top double-decker buses depart from outside the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTIC), next door to The Westin Cape Town, and run 2 circular routes which stop at attractions around Cape Town and the peninsula, offering guests the option to hop on and hop off where they choose. The ticket can be used on any given day during your stay, but is only valid for a single day. This is a “hop on, hop off” service, which allows you to use this tour as a convenient way to access all major highlights in Cape Town during the day. The tour includes the V&A Waterfront and city centre in detail, stops at Table Mountain for an awe-inspiring, panoramic view of Cape Town and concludes with a coastal drive back through Camps Bay. Hop off at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden which showcases the unparalleled diversity and beauty of the South African floral kingdom. Alternatively, spend some time at any of the interesting museums or the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest building in South Africa. Red City TourLeaves from and returns to the CTIC. Departs every 20 minutes with 17 great stops including Table Mountain Cable Way, Castle of Good Hope, District Six Museum, Camps Bay and the V&A Waterfront. The Red City Tour takes you to Table Mountain so there’s no need to struggle for parking or to walk for miles. Blue Mini Peninsula TourLeaves from and returns to the CTIC. Departs every 35 minutes and has 13 great stops including Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, World of Birds, and a Township Visit. The Blue Tour is a scenic tour that circles the back of Table Mountain. You do not need to book this, you will receive a ticket within your name tag upon registration and can redeem this on the bus. Day ToursA number of day tours are available through Hylton Ross and can be booked directly with them at the Tours Desk in the Accompanying Persons Lounge on Level 1 of the CTIC. These handcrafted day tours will allow participants to truly connect with South African people, customs and life, creating and sustaining an inter-cultural dialogue that benefits all concerned. |
