Abstract

A randomly time-varying sampling period or control delay affects the performance, robustness and stability of a control loop. The variation in sensing and actuation instants iscaused by e.g. multitasking, interactions in distributed systems and varying processing time. The discretization of a continuous-time loss function and process is here extended to the case of aperiodic systems, whenthe control signal exhibits multiple changes during a non-uniform sampling period.
