Abstract

The paper elaborates on an approach to achieve interoperability among existing Enterprise Applications, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, through utilising XML/B2B interconnection standards, developing components and modifying existing systems where necessary. Based on this approach, a specific set of Enterprise Models are constructed, formally representing processes, information, organizational units and systems that are affected by interoperability requirements both in the as-is and the to-be state. Then, higher level models are transformed into design descriptions, weaved together with existing software, to produce new executable systems in various platforms. The overal MDA-based approach is not only solving specific ERP-CRM interoperability issues but leads to the design of new, interoperable Enterprise Applications.
