Case Based Reasoning (CBR) is proposed as a methodology for the diagnosis and fine tune of PID controllers. CBR methodology is used to retrieve the knowledge acquired in previous situations of a process, represented as associations between expert diagnostic and measurements in interesting situations. These associations are conceived as cases. Thus, cases can be re-used to adjust controller parameters in order to accomplish the required performance specifications.
