In practical applications of control in industry many problems appear due to the presence of variable delays and sensor malfunctions causing loss of data availability during a certain amount of time. Thus, the joint handling of the reasoning procedure (in our case using fuzzy rulebases), the missing measurements (scarce data) and the use of irregular sampling patterns is needed to replicate human operators. This paper tries to address some of the issues regarding integration of nonconventional sampling capabilities into fuzzy logic controllers.
