Voluntary Industry consortiums provide a unique opportunity to manage knowledge and the means by which knowledge may be shared among the members. Consortium can also develop new knowledge through the interaction of members within properly structured and resourced activities, such as roundtable discussions and collaborative design of data management systems. This paper will explore how consortiums can be developed and operated to maximize their benefits to knowledge management and organizational learning.
