I will review some of H. Ted Davis' contributions to molecular theory that have found direct use in understanding trends of molecular selectivity in zeolite adsorption and diffusion. I will end with a short overview of Ted's true legacy in this field - the contributions made by some of his former students who have become very active in zeolites, molecular sieves, and molecular shape selectivity.
