Tissues often have complex toplogies, but it is still challenging to construct microstructured scaffolds for culturing cells in non-planar 3D geometries. We describe a strategy to self-assemble complex micropatterned structures such as coils, spirals and cylinders. We investigated the use of these substrates as scaffolds for cell culture in 3D.
