In 2005, the American Chemical Society's Green Chemistry Institute Pharmaceutical Roundtable identified ten organic reactions extensively used in the pharmaceutical industry that are good candidates for improvements. The anticipated improvements include waste reduction, energy saving, and stereoselective optimization. The effectiveness of a spinning tube-in-tube reactor (STTŪ, Kreido Biofuels, Inc., Camarillo CA) to support such improvement efforts for several targeted reactions has been determined. The results will be discussed.
