Nanofibers composed of polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) with the incorporation of different amounts of chitosan were prepared by electrospinning. The structure, morphology and stability in water of the electrospun nanofibers were investigated. The addition of chitosan (0, 2, 5, 8, 10, 15 w%) in the polymer solution modified the structure and morphology of the nanofiber such that increasing the amount of chitosan increased the nanofiber diameter. Also, the stability of each nanofiber composite under neutral, acidic and alkaline environment was also studied. Results showed that the electrospun PDVF/chitosan, could be a potential biomaterial for tissue engineering or for drug delivery.
