Ph.D student Steinar Hauan
Status
I started my Ph.D studies in 1994 and expect to finish in the spring of
1998. I'm employed as a scientific assistant with responsibility for our UNIX
computer system and network but will leave this position in june -96 to become a
full time Ph.D student. My advisor is Prof. Kristian Lien.
Research area
The working title of my thesis is 'Integrated systems of reaction and
separation'. Design strategy/algorithms for reactive distillation columns is
the current focus, but multifunctional units on a broader basis is of interest.
Classes completed in 1995
- Advanced Process Synthesis
- Absorption processes
- Algorithms and Datastructures
- Azeotropic Distillation (exam feb. 96)
Activities
- Joined seminar on reactive separation systems at DTU (Denmark), April
1995
- Presented theori behind reactive distillation multiplicity on ESCAPE-5 in
Slovenia, June 1995
- Participated in project group for university network structure, spring 1995

- Present my paper 'Geometric Visualisation of Reactive Fixed Points' at
ESCAPE-6, Rhodos (mai)
- 10 months research visit to Art Westerberg at Carnegie Mellon University,
Pittsburgh USA (june)
