Status
I started my PhD-studies in August 1995, planning to finish them in the end of 1998. Supervisors for my PhD-project are Prof. dr. techn et dr. ing. Signe K. Ratkje and Prof. dr. ing. Kristian Lien. The PhD-project was financed entirely by the Nordic Programme of Process Integration.
Research area
My PhD-project is titled "Entropy production as an analysis tool for the design of chemical reactor systems" and tries to apply results from the theory of irreversible thermodynamics to the design of industrial chemical process systems.
In order to work with an industrial example, contacts have been established with Haldor Topsøe AS in Denmark. The damp reforming reaction has been chosen as a suitable example of a real process.
The following exams have been passed during 1995: Thermodynamics for hydro carbon mixtures, Plant design fundamentals, and Process synthesis.

Plans for 1996
I'll be on leave from my Ph.D-studies for a period of one year in order to gain industrial experience. During my leave I will be working as a project engineer in ABB Miljø AS in Oslo, Norway.
