Ph.D. Student Jostein Vada

Status

I started my Ph.D. study in September 1995 and will finish my doctoral degree in 1999. My doctoral work is financed by the Norwegian Research Council, and my advisor is Prof. Bjarne A. Foss.

Research area

During my studies, I will work within the area analysis and control of complex process plants. This first year of my studies, I am working as teaching assistant (100%) in addition to taking courses. During the autumn of 1995 I took the following courses:

• 5026 Discreet Mathematics
• 43918 Unlinear Process Control

Plans for 1996

During 1996 (1. September) I will terminate my job as teaching assistant and then work 100% on my doctoral work. I am planning to take the following courses in 1996:

• 43913 Optimal control of dynamic systems
• 43951 Models in fault detection and diagnosis
• 99991 Representation and analysis of hybrid systems (self study)
