Ph.D student Jo Simensen

Status

I started my Ph.D study in September 1994 and will finish my doctoral thesis in 1997. My research is financed by the Research Council of Norway, the Norwegian Federation of Process and Manufacturing Industries (PIL), and the Nycomed Imaging plants in Norway through the INPRO program. My advisor is Prof. Bjarne A. Foss.

Research Area

In my research, I focus on batch plant operation, in particular how to structure the model of such a plant. In addition, I will look at the organizational aspects connected to the operation of a pharmaceutical batch plant.

Activities

• Finished various courses.
• Attended Intelligent Systems in Process Engineering (ISPE '95) in Snowmass, July 1994.
• Visited the control engineering lab's at the University of Lund and Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden, October 1994.
• Co-advisor on the diploma work done by Jostein Mehammer.

Plans for 1996

• I will spend a part of 1996 performing research abroad.
