Ph.D. student Bjørn Glemmestad

Status

My Ph.D. studies started in June 1994, and the scheduled finish is in June 1997. I am situated at Tel-Tek in Porsgrunn and am working in the Process Integration group at Telemark Institute of Technology/Tel-Tek. This group is managed by my supervisor, Prof. Truls Gundersen. My co-supervisor is Prof. Sigurd Skogestad, and I am financed by the PROST project.

Research area

The research focuses on further development of methods for design and analysis of integrated processes. The emphasis will be on controllability, operability and flexibility of the processes, and the work is carried out in co-operation with Institute of Chemical Engineering at NTNU. In 1995, the research work was to investigate methods for optimal operation of a given heat exchanger network.

Plans for 1995

In 1996, I will continue the work on optimal operation of heat exchanger networks. Hopefully, I will also start working on how different network structures (topologies) influence operability.
